The Ministry of Irrigation serves as the principal Executing Entity for the “Strengthening Climate Resilience of Subsistence Farmers and Agricultural Plantation Communities Residing in the Vulnerable River Basins, Watershed Areas, and Downstream of the Knuckles Mountain Range Catchment of Sri Lanka (GCF-Knuckles Project).”
The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) in Nairobi, Kenya, is providing technical assistance for the project, which is funded by the Green Climate Fund and co-financed by the Government of Sri Lanka while the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the Accredited Entity of the Project. The total Project value of this six-year Project would be USD 48 million and the Project targets approximately 268,643 direct beneficiaries and 1,074,573 indirect beneficiaries in the Knuckles Mountain range catchment area.
