The project, undertaken in the past, involved constructing and modifying water conveyance structures under the KMTC, UEC, and Manankattiya – Mahakanadarawa routes to transfer water to deficit areas in the North Central Province. The goals were to increase cropping intensity from 1.2 to 1.8, provide drinking water, improve rural livelihoods, and promote environmental sustainability. The team recommended mitigation measures to address these impacts and developed an environmental management plan for effective implementation. Cumulative impacts from similar projects in the region were also assessed. The project played a key role in supporting agricultural productivity and community well-being in the area.
